Hey guys,

My little girl of 30 month isn't walking or standing unaided yet.

She never weight bared and just randomly one day stood up and climbed on the same day. That was around 18 months old.

She is under physio and also has duck feet and flat feet.

She has been tested for muscular disease and come back clear. We are just waiting on genetic testing now.

Please tell me I am not the only one going through this.

Little lady has been prescribed piedro boots which we are hoping come in the next week or two.
I just don't imagine her getting any balance anytime soon.

My daughter didn't take her first steps until
21 months and after that it took a long long time to build her confidence. She also couldn't stand unaided until that point.

When she did start walking she walked with a wide gait and fell over a lot. Got pain when walking.

Dd is hypermobile and has low muscle tone. Also flat footed. She also has other issues with speech etc.

She never had the piedro boots but did use kickers.

However, she is 6 now and you wouldn't really know. She has come on leaps and bounds. She can't run as fast as her friends but she's getting there. She can't ride a bike yet but can ride a scooter. She's very happy and mainly pain free with her legs. She actually enjoys walking now too - she used to hate it.

It may be just the case she'll surprise you op! 💕

My son didn't walk until he was 4. Before then I wasn't sure he'd ever walk, but he never gave up and one day totally surprised us by taking his first steps unaided. He had a Kaye Walker to help with his balance while he built up his strength - has your physio suggested anything like this? He also has Pierdro boots and they've definitely helped.

He's 9 now and still struggles with his balance and stamina as he has a genetic disorder which causes low muscle tone and gait problems, but his walking is still improving all the time.

Hi OP, my daughter took her first couple of steps at 21 months and then didn't walk properly until 32 months, due to hypermobility. What really got her going was a walking frame. She's flat footed now and pigeon toes but has made amazing progress. She can now jog (it's not quite a run!) and gallop at 42 months.

So nice to get responses. Thanks guys.

I don't imagine her being able to walk anytime soon to be fair. She has absolutely zero balance but does try bless her.

I have no doubt though that one day she will surprise me and just do it. Unfortunately her piedro boots are delayed and still in Portugal. Hopefully be here in around 4 weeks.

The plus side of her not being able to run me ragged is she can recognise and identify numbers 1 to 13 and working on shapes at the moment so every cloud and all that.

God forbid when she does find her feet she is going to make my life hell I am sure haha.

Looking at her feet most recently it almost looks like her achilles tendon is too tight so will speak to physiotherapist in November.

Let's just hope and pray she finds her balance soon. I see her get so frustrated when she can't walk 😔

She really wants too. She goes everywhere on her knees in the house at the moment. Poor kidda.

Hi Kat, have you asked physio/OT about a frame? As suggested by PP I think this would really help her, especially if she's keen to get going.

I thought my DD was never going to walk but she got there in the end.

I have 5 dc and only 1 of them was walking at 20 months. The others ranged from just turned 2 to nearly 3.
