What on earth do you do with your time?!

Dd has severe anxieties and phobias being around people and in public, which results in huge meltdowns, aggression and screaming swearing, attacking members of the public.

We are finding it tricky to do much with her now, which is really sad.

When she was younger we managed holidays abroad and uk breaks, which she loved. They weren’t easy but it was possible to do.

Now, we can not hardly even go out anywhere. Driving around is her go to…not great with petrol shortage.
We keep on booking breaks away and then cancelling.

Anyone else in a similar position? What do you do?!

I’ve read a few of your posts and your dd sounds so scarily similar to mine.

My dd is 10 and even trips organised by our local SEN group feel like a major mission. She is better than what she has been but is still very hard work.

How old is your dd? Mine are 11 and 8. Both autistic though youngest also has learning difficulties. My 11 prefers being at home. She feels safe there. Is there anything your dd loves? Maybe scale back on things and do shorter trips.

Ds is a bit like this, he sensory seeks for movement, and needs to get out of the house every day. But at the same time is overwhelming by noise, and can't really tolerate more the 2-3 people.

We have passes for a few local activities, and go for an hour at a time, either at opening time or the end of the day when it's quite. We also do the opposite of what the weather suggests, so on sunny days we head to softplay and on cold days we wrap up and go to the park.

Holidays are a bit harder, as it's difficult to know where and when will be busy. Luckily my lovely inlaws live in the lake district and let us stay in there house when they go on holiday. This is predictable enough that DS manages, whilst still been a nice change for the rest of us. And because it's the same place every year we've got to know which places/ attractions work for us.
