Wobbly teeth..

My dd is 8.

Her teeth are just starting to fall out.

She's getting herself in a complete state about them coming out.

She literally has 1 hanging out & she won't pull it out.

She's not eating or sleeping properly because of it.

Having full on panic attacks.

She's scaring her youngest sister to pieces.

Any advice?

No advice really, but my DS is similar. He hates the feeling of them wobbling. So won't wobble them. Gets angry if anyone suggests it. Avoids foods that might make the tooth wobble eg apple. Oh the drama!

He's a little bit older and his teeth have been quite late erupting but he had full on shark teeth for ages. I try to ignore it all as much as possible (as there doesn't seem to be anything I can do to help!) and in my experience they do come out eventually (DS is quite clumsy and once accidently knocked one out).

DS is also upset by the idea of the tooth fairy which stems from some story he was told at school. He does not want the tooth fairy to "get" his teeth. So we have a special jamjar to put them in which he hides at the back of his bookcase. This seems to help.

I don't know if it is a sensory thing or just dislike of change. DS does not like change at all. I wonder if she is panicking if a social story might help? Also check she is not frightened of the tooth fairy like mine is.

Whats your dentist like? Mine is an absolute star and has helped pull baby teeth with nimbing gel on an emergency appointnent and not charged. She has a great bedside manner
My son is totally freaked by the whole process and seems to find them very painful so its a major stress that last days so i feel for you.

@landofgiants
Sounds like our children are similar!
I'll be very surprised if my dd comes home with the tooth still in? I've been worried about her! I don't want her to feel anxious at school about it.
Her teacher is lovely & I'm sure he'll make sure she's okay.
Maybe the tooth fairy could be an issue? I'll have to dig into what's the problem.
She does write notes to the tooth fairy, so who knows!

@Elephantsparade
Sounds like you have such a fantastic dentist! I wish we had one like that!
I've been struggling to get into the dentist throughout the pandemic & even now it's been a nightmare!

The tooth is out!
It woke her at 23:50! She was completely calm & is thrilled that it's out!
