Having already had my annual rant about people asking whether ds1 is 'looking forward to Christmas' it appears he is.

We opened the advent calendars this morning. Then after breakfast ds1 dragged dh down to the cellar and shoved his hand towards the xmas tree, then pointed upstairs!

Cannot believe how much his understanding has come on in the last year.

That is wonderful :D.

Wow that's fantastic. I cant wait until Ds understands Christmas. He is still young yet but he doesnt understand much of anything.

that is lovely

god no way tobysmum - waiting until the kids have broken up (bah humbug) otherwise the other 2 get too frenzied. He has come on a lot. Unfortunately his behaviour at home is more challenging than it has been for many years (and he's big and strong now). Hopefully its a phase of readjustment or something (and not the start of hormones) or I really don't know what we'll do.

that's great!

TotalChaos · 01/12/2007 21:05

the xmas thing, not the behaviour problems that are great...

yurt1 · 01/12/2007 21:09

Im just a grouch. Had just put him to bed (and was nursing the bruises to prove it) when I made that last post.

Wow! thats brilliant (associating the calendar with the tree!) not the bruises!

sphil · 02/12/2007 22:49

How fantastic! We're doing Christmas ABA with DS2 this week - thought it might help him to understand the frenzy of the next few weeks if he can recognise Father Christmas, reindeer, tree, star, present etc. Am going to try to get him to unwrap presents by imitating and sing Christmas songs to get him to fill in words . Worth a try!

Now when people ask you can say YEEEESSSSSS!!!!!

wannaBe · 02/12/2007 22:57

that is sooo fab . How long will ds1 allow you to hold off putting up the tree .

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 02/12/2007 22:59

Yurt I could be writing those posts of yours.. yes DS (mine) understands and remembers about Christmas and it's so endearing the way he is getting excited...

On the other hand, behaviour - foul and bruises to prove it!

Wish you had been going to last night's meet up.. would have loved to have met you

eidsvold · 03/12/2007 07:47

that is fab. He has come a long way.

I think dd1 is slowly getting the idea although at the moment she keeps giving therapists etc their christmas presents and saying happy birthday oh well she got birthday's this year maybe fully understand christmas next year.

My neck looks like I've been in with the tigers shiny (or alternatively like I have some sort of dreadful skin mite or something).

Even weirder- he's suddenly got into teddy bears (!!!! How many years have a cringed every time a health professional has shoved a teddy into his face?) he refused to put the class bear down on Friday so they sent it home with him (he was happy to leave it on the bus). Tomorrow they have a trip to the Teddy bear Factory, to see Santa and McDonald's for lunch- he'll be in heaven!

re your neck Yurt.

DH's head is a mess.. a big bloody scab on his forehead. DS BIT it!!!

He had to go to GP this morning as he has a chest infection (DH not DS) and she was really shocked when she asked what he had done and got the answer!

yurt1 · 03/12/2007 13:41

They must be talking to each other. DS1 has started biting- mainly my chin. Nice!

Peachy · 03/12/2007 13:44

Oh Yurt, that brought a tear to my eye! how wonderful! I expect the trouble at home is readjustment (she says sending ds2 tos chool with a bitten cheek and desperately hoping so )

I am so glad, what an amzing Christmas this could be for you all and so well deserved all the work you all put in, I am in awe of you!

Peachy · 03/12/2007 13:46

(bloody hell- just saw posts about biting- do you think our kids all use ASDnet to discuss this weeks plans of campaign?)

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 03/12/2007 13:48

Ha.. my DS hasn't even got a ASD diagnosis.. but never fear, I expect it'll be added to the list at some stage shortly..

LOL Shiny- I commented 9after a joke on ehre) to a aprent at school that clarly DS1 was very intelligent as at his age he already had ASD, SPD, DYS (lexia), LD after his name (she thought i was batty and tried to explain it didn't mean he had a degree or two.... doh)

Dinosaur · 03/12/2007 13:57
