I finally saw the doctor

For those who kept nudging me!

I went told him all my concerns about DD, he agreed that it could be personality/4 yr old-itis, but that it also could be AS traits and he was supportive.

I have an appointment to see him with DD on Monday, he wants to meet her properly (only really seen her when in with DS), check her physically (I have hearing concerns with her too so I am hoping he is going to look into that as well).

He says that after that appointment he will arrange for one with a proper paed

I have finally taken a proper step (HV step ages back was crap ).

As much as I am worried about wasting everyone's time and it turning out I just have a "difficult" child, I would rather find out, than NOT find out that she is AS (however mild it seems) and it cause her issues later in life. I'm not stupid, I know it will be long, and hard, especially with her seeming so borderline, but still. I am there.

Glad your GP was supportive.

Hope you get some answers soon.

Good luck xxx

Misdee · 28/11/2007 23:28

oh thats good.

mine just fobs me off. i gave up long ago. i can mange her, she is a dream to teach, just other people think she is 'odd'

Flamesparrow · 28/11/2007 23:31

Lol @ "odd" - DD is getting "rude" rather than odd

I am lucky that I just so happened to get the doctor I get on well with (I have scared him by talk of my breasts a few times, so I think he now just agrees with me to stop him having to look at em )

OP posts:
Misdee · 28/11/2007 23:34

lol @ breasts and you GP.

dd2 is also 'rude' 'contary' 'talks too loudly'

i almost died the other day. we live in a high % of disabled people area as have a bungalow on sheltered scheme. dd2 shouted 'mum look at that man in his wheelchair with a big shiney head'

had to have a big talk to her about what is the right thing to say but she said 'but he did, he had a big shiney head!'

the thing is, she has spoken to the man before, but not for a while.

coppertop · 29/11/2007 09:39

It's great that your doctor is being so helpful - even if it is only in the name of breast-avoidance.

LOL at mini-Misdee. Ds2 just says loudly, "That man hasn't got any hair. He's just got a head!"

Flame · 29/11/2007 09:42

We had the fun of getting in a lift with a man with a recently amputated leg...

No mention of the lack of leg really, just

"That man has big staples in his knee!" (well to be fair, he did!)

Followed by

"He needs one of daddy's legs"

To a normal passer by/man in lift that must have sounded weird - but she was right - DH makes legs, we have random limbs round the house. He DID need daddy's leg.

So... future advice for anyone having doctor issues: find a suitably young looking one, ask him breast related questions the first 3 times you see him - and he then does whatever you want

Misdee · 29/11/2007 12:27

lol flame.

hope your GP is helpful, and you get some answers.

coppertop · 29/11/2007 13:50

ROFL at "we have random limbs round the house".

mm22bys · 29/11/2007 23:28

All the best Flamesparrow, it's so good you have a supportive GP!

(Other bits of this thread have made me laugh!)

RIPHamsterDave · 03/12/2007 22:44

We had the appointment - she glared at him lots

He did basic physical (no hearing though), and said he will refer her because he is out of his depth and has no idea!

Hurrah for confused young GPs. He was the same with DS and rubella - called in someone who would know!

RIPHamsterDave · 03/12/2007 22:45

(Tis Flame btw )

Misdee · 03/12/2007 22:45

oh thats good.

psychomum5 · 03/12/2007 22:49

yay for going.....sorry, forgot that it was today or would have rung.

yay for referring too.

WHY the random name change???

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 03/12/2007 22:49

Ah FS and Misdee you think you have problems! DS raises his middle finger to people's faces (once they are at point blank range) and shouts "DICK!!!"

And I don't know why I'm grinning.. it's hideous.. it's about the most distrinct thing he can say! (As he sits there all blonde and cute in his wheelchair..) And he knows it's bad so he says it all the more.. always flipping the birdie simultaneously!!!

Aren't they dreadful! Special needs or not what have we done to deserve such humiliation!!

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 03/12/2007 22:50

Yes meant to say well done and good luck Flame

RIPHamsterDave · 03/12/2007 22:59
