My ds is going to come off his epilepsy medication in February after a year of being on them... I cant wait but also full of nerves incase the seizures do come back...but Im going to think positive (with a hint of caution!)

DS2 will be changing from special school to m/s. I'm excited because I think the school is much much better but I'm also nervous in case it turns out to be totally the wrong decision. So same as you really - thinking positive but with cautious overtones!

DS will be going to the pre-school of our choice after an eight month battle with LEA.

needmorecoffee · 29/11/2007 15:25

Nope, can't think of anything. Specially as I'm gonna be 40
Oh, just thought of something. My sister is going to take me to Venice next October and pay for it all

2shoes · 29/11/2007 16:02

i'm not as I will have 2 teens in the house

lourobert · 29/11/2007 16:53

NMC- 40 isnt that daunting is it..???? Well dont to you Amazon for not giving up!!

I always try so hard not to think 'right in xx months time I hope ds is doing blah blah blah' but Im going to say that I hope by this time next year.....I will be sat here with a medication free and of course seixure free (touch wood!) ds who would have been so for 10 months or so. Im excited but scared but excited!!

lourober promise me you will post about it all. dd has been free for a year so I am hoping at some time they might take her of the meds

englishrose243 · 29/11/2007 18:35

dd3 starts school in September! Ooooh don't I sound mean! . Thing is I also start my degree in February (studying law with the Open University) and after 10 years of always having a little one at home I am so looking forward to some "me" time. Not looking forward to renewing dd2's DLA though, I will probably get the forms sometime in the New Year...aarrghhh!!

lourobert · 29/11/2007 19:45

I will certainly post all about it....Ill be happy one day then filled with fear the next....it will certinaly be a rollercoster time. I just hope it goes well. Were due some luck!!! It was be great that we wont have to fight with him morning and night toget the damn meds in but alaso Im hoping that being med free might help him progress a little quicker maybe, trying not to get my hopes up but to be honest its hard not too!

Er- youll love doing your degree, even though i moan about going back to uni to coninue my studies it certinaly gives me something different to think about

Oh gawd I live in fear of "them" saying that we have to take DS off the epilepsy meds, even though they may be contributing/causing some rather objectionable/hard to handle behaviour.

He has only ever had 2 seizures, both in 2005.. but they were massive, "status epilepticus" jobbies.. esp. the first one. I couldn't bear for him to be at risk of them again even though he's been seizure free for 2 years 4 months (touch wood)

twoisplenty · 30/11/2007 13:35

I'm looking forward to 2008 because we are moving house, to a bungalow, we exchange contracts next week (all fingers crossed!).

Equally I'm not looking forward to 2008 because we are due to have a big meeting to discuss possible major surgery for my ds to help his cp, but I'm very sceptical and petrified.

needmorecoffee · 30/11/2007 16:12

Shiny, you should ask for an assessment. Most paeds want 2 years SF and then wean meds but dd's paed wont put a child on meds because of status unless they have more than 2. He just gives out the rescue med.
DD has had about 8 status seizures not stopped by her regualr AED's (which do stop her regular seizures) so we have diastat and buccul medazolan next to the bed.
Since dd's last seizure was July we got till 2009 before we attempt another wean.
