finaly put dd on meds for her sezures, but bloody scared to start her with it

they put dd on acetazolaminde! but really scared to start her with it, they say if she gets a rash she as to be checked even if its nothing, just to make sure, didnt tell me why just get her checked straight away if she gets one,

anyone or child had these meds? and was they ok?

Poor you It's horrid when you have to start these. dd is on lamotrogine and I remeber watching for all kinds of side affects that -might- happen. they never did. so keep an eye on her but don't worry too much.
It is most likely because she is so young.

dd is also on lamotrigine and the dose was built up very slowly. They can get a rash called Stevens-Johnson syndrome so every rash needs to be checked as SJS is like a nasty allergic reaction and can be life threatening.
But any med can cause a reaction so its best to be safe.
Have they made a dx yet Trace, been thinking about you lots.

hi nmc,is lamotrigine same as the one i mentioned? and no they not yet and shes going into childrens hospital jan 14th for an other eeg shes doing a repertive shacking most nights now,

Now I'm confused. That drug you mentioned is a diuretic, not an anti-convulsant. I'm quite prepared to be wrong here but I've never heard of it used for seizure control. It can be used to reduce pressure inside the head - but you've never mentioned hydrocephalus.

weird choice for first drug but you hafta hope they know what they are doing!
Fingers crossed but keep on at them if there's no improvment.
