Educational psychologist assessment

My son had an assessment today by educational psychologist. Had first part last week. She said he has very slow processing speed, highly likely to have dyslexia, requires literacy support and also she seen indicators of autism (on waiting list to be assessed) she said she has to write up report and i will get it in 6 weeks. She has to do her scores etc. My question is will she actually diagnose dyslexia using her scores or does he need an actual assessment? With kids being out for summer not sure if we should hold off until i get her report or get the ball rolling with private assessment

The EP gave us a 20 minute chat on the day of the assessment along with a mini written report. He then sent us the much longer, more detailed report a week or so later. He told us exactly how and why DS1 struggles. I do not think he gave a formal diagnosis but he did tell us the name of the condition he thinks DS1 has and went into a lot of detail about how it affects him and how to help him. He also strongly suggested that he disagrees with a previous diagnosis. I sent the long report to school and they used it to guide extra support for DS.

She spoke very quickly to me outside her office but only for a few mins as parents aren't allowed in here due to covid. I didn't take much in as Ds was trying to get into carpark so couldn't fully concentrate. 6 weeks seems so long. We are in Northern Ireland so schools already out for summer. She also considered going straight for a statement but said depended on his scores. So hard to wait, knowing the process is so long, and support is really needed asap
