Does anyone get DLA for a child with mild CP? even the low rate? Just wondered if its worth applying for DS2. Thanks.

it is as if you don't try...
remeber to write it about the WORST day. though.

you should go if your son is harder to look after than a non-disabled child the same age. Does he need more help?
If so, then you should get DLA but as 2shoes says, write about the hard day.
If he gets DLA you can then get more CTC.

hiya skipsmum, i get dla for dd who has hemiplegia, we had to write about her on her worst day though and with the hospital report we got awarded high rate.

she does have ASD as well so that may be why she receives that award.

Definatly worth a try, ds2 gets high rate mobility middle care. He has mild CP, GDD & ASD.

DS2 has aspergers as well. Some days he seems fine, others he can hardly walk. The worst day...was awful!

Look on the Cerebra website - they have a fantastic booklet you can download which goes through the DLA form and advises on how to fill it in for a brain injured child.
My lifeline!!

hiya, sorry only just seen this post, i know i'm a bit late

we get low rate dla for dd1 who has hemiplegia (mild cp)

she used to get the higher rate when she was younger, then when it ran out and we re-applied it got totally turned down - always appeal, we did, and were awarded it at low rate, which i think is about right

as others have said, always write about the worst of the worst

cerebra are brilliant and

and citizens advice etc.
