My son 13 (after struggle of 10 years) got his diagnosis. He is on Autistic Spectrum (high functioning), goes main stream school. He struggles in understanding and communicating emotions, going through depression and think very low of himself because of agressive outburts at home.He thinks there is something wrong with his brain and I always tell him thats not the case and he is a lovely kind boy (which he is )

I am struggling to find right/positive way of explaining him about his diagnosis. So he could understand that there is nothing wrong in his brain, he just look and understand things differently.

Please help!!!!

I'm not sure how I told DD it was positive, when is was failing at school and sport I remind her that her effort was worth as much as the winner, focus on his good points, explain it helps him in the ways it does and hinders in others.
Be honest with him, I've been through all the assessments of course they left him feeling he is different.
Use big names who have high functioning autism there is many, also Google Youtubers who explain ASD in teenager terms. Watch it first before putting it on
Hormones and ASD are a nightmare, he might need a low dose of steralyn to lift him up.
DD gets very low too it is part of it unfortunately going through the teenage years.

To add my friends son is 15 he is a different boy now, 2 years ago he felt helpless he was suicidal, if you afford some adolescent counselling with CB tips it really helped him.

I explained to my DC (and it helps me too) to think of being neurodivergent - like being right or left handed. It's not something 'wrong' with you, it's just a difference between people. The world is more geared towards right handed people because there are more of them, so being left handed can be difficult, but there are certain things that you will be better at. It's not an illness, or a defect, it's just being wired differently.
