Hello,

My daughter is 12 and likely to be asked to leave current school. She has not yet been diagnosed officially however we suspect mild LD. Maybe high functioning Autism and ADHD. A bit surprised by all that is happening and feel let down by school as not been informed until now of suspicion. They are blaming lockdown for lack of communication etc... What do we do from here? It breaks my heart to be in this situation as I cannot find a suitable alternative school that would welcome her! Any ideas? Is there anything equivalent to Moore school but for girls? Thanks for any advice as really feeling so down and desperate at the moment!

Does DD have an EHCP?

If you got an ASD diagnosis I would say Limpsfield Grange, although not independent it has an excellent reputation.

Moor House admits girls too, do you mean More House?

Sorry to read this, what a nightmare. It sounds as though you need to be pursuing diagnosis and probably an EHCP. The Surrey branch of the National Autistic Society have a parents messaging board, it might be worth signing up to that as there are loads of experienced parents there who may be able to point you in the direction of suitable schools.

Definitely apply for EHCP if your daughter is likely to be asked to leave (independent school?). Personally I'd do a parental application using IPSEA template as it starts the clock and you might be lucky enough to get one by the end of September, whereas leaving it up to school will likely take a month to get it sent off.

Limpsfield Grange could be perfect but you'll need an EHCP. Without (or with if you fancy a fight with the LA) have you looked at The Royal School in Haslemere? They have TAs in the classroom and are well set up for this sort of SEN.

Thank you all. To be fair i may have panicked about asked to leave. I was just taken abavk by the situation. Let’s see what happens when we have a formal meeting.

Good luck, and take someone else with you to the meeting if you possibly can, so that one of you can make notes and the other can talk. I went through the EHCP process by myself, it was hard but worth it.
