Daughter cannot write with hands due to illness. Asked school to provide a scibe who could take down what she says verbatim . the school said this not allowed by Exam Boards. Offered up their scribe who is very slow and mispells her typing and therfore cannot execute work that show My daughters's potential. Is the school correct in saying verbatim scribes not allowed.?

My son has been allowed a scribe for his GCSEs.
Is there someone you can ask, like a local SENDEAS or local FB group for SEN.

A scribe can only be used as an access arrangement when the pupil can't use a laptop or speech recognition software. For MFLs one is only allowed if the pupil can dictate letter by letter.

The scribe misspelling words isn't the end of the world as long as the meaning is discernible because using a scribe means you forfeit SPAG and QWC marks unless you dictate letter by letter and punctuation, which isn't recommended.

Using a scribe is slow, especially when it isn't the student normal way of working, it isn't easier than using speech recognition software. It is why 25% extra time should always be considered and up to 50% why dictating letter by letter and punctuation.
