Hi, my daughter is 3 at the end of the month & is under a peadeatrician/ SALT as she is having problems mainly social communication/ language and is probably goinf to be tested for autism however awaiting referral. She is non verbal at the moment, babbles constantly and sometimes says a random word (or sounds like she's saying it). She uses PECS to communicate and more recently the SALT has started using PODD activities. PECS has been really helpful as she can now communicate what she wants she is much less frustrated and means at nursery she can ask for a drink/ toilet when she needs it a bit easier.
Anyway yesterday she was diagnosed with glue ear - this is the second time as last time she had an audiology appointment a year ago she had glue ear then they was supposed to follow up after 6 months but due to covid this was delayed. She has now been referred to ENT the audiologist is unsure whether this has been an intermittent problem or whether it maybe hasn't cleared. So although I am under no illusion this is the entire problem how much can glue ear affect speech development? They said the wait list for ENT can be up to a year because of covid ? Should I be pushing more ? Thanks
