Started off really weirdly as had physio on my back and he stuck a needle into different parts, 2 inches deep OMG!), to get to muscle, amazing but had me in floods of tears, pain, relief, just mad weirdness went on basically.

Anyway took Lottie to a workshop in Bedford with her v. spititual Godmother. The woman taking the class is my friends teacher, teaching her to do readings etc.

Anyway we walked in and this woman just came straight over and took Lootie who immediatley nuzzled into this woman and then was stroking her face. I took it all with a pinch of salt but couldn't help but feel proud as she told me about Lotties amazing energy, aura and how she was just amazing to be around. Everyone in the room really did seem to be radiating towards Lottie though. She was always the centre of something, or it really, really seemed that way, I just became aware that she was always in the centre of everything, grinning fromear to ear at all times.

The train journey there and back was full of people cracking up laughing at her, 2 women were in tears of laughter/emotion, someone else told me I should hire here out to make people happy, gosh what an amzing child, aren't you lucky, 2 different unrelated, grown men were stroking her hand and Lottie was saying 'ahhhhh' to them and it was just all so lovely that I felt quite ovrecome tbh.

A woman walked past Lottie, did a double take, came back and said 'ohhh, what a special child, and squeezed my arm.

Basically I just had a day of people getting something from my daughter, not just 'isn't she cute' but it was mad, lots of people on the same day all commented in some form that she somehow gave something to them.

Am I making any sense? I'm quite spun out about it all, had quite a mad day tbh and feel quite emotional and incredibly happy and overwhelmingly proud of that little girl sparked out in her cot, legs akimbo and rosy cheeked.

I just felt the need to tell you about my day.
Thanks for letting me gush, I neede that

I really do feel so happy that I wanted to share it with you, I don't know if I've made any sense but even so I know you'll still understand, thanks

God, I hope that didn't sound as though I was being horrible. What I meant was I felt the same as Thomcat but didn't quite know how to word it so didn't say anything.
FD I understand that you were being kind too but I have had that said to me so many times and I am not special at all. Yes dd is special but then so is my ds without sen. I couldn't say one was more special than the other.
I hope this ramble makes sense

TC, that thing you've got - can you bottle it and send me some ?

aloha · 15/11/2004 23:29

Thomcat, I just think Lottie has inherited a great gift from you and Dom - you are both ultimate people people - you love life and you love people and it shines through everything you say and post. I suspect that Lottie has inherited a fantastic double whammy of being socially gifted from her loving parents. She clearly has the amazing ability to really communicate with people - charisma, maybe? It's a fantastic and quite rare quality.

aloha · 15/11/2004 23:29

I really hope that didn't sound too freaky or gushy. I've just been thinking about this thread since you posted it.

....New to Mumsnet and new to you guys but this chat/ thread is so refreshing I just had to say so. I will introduce myself formally when I get a chance, and trigger a few conversations as there's so much to talk about- but I'm intrigued by your talk about auras and connection thomcat, are you aware of children who are born in a caul and was your dd born this way? Perhaps this explains some of her magnetism - or perhaps I should just be quiet

nasa · 16/11/2004 07:21

Thomcat, only just seen this thread as i've been away from mumsnet on and off but wow, what a fantastic post. I've not read all the replies but Lottie does sound so special and your story that aloha wrote in Eve always, always stays with me. I know it's been said before but your story really changed by opinions/pre conceived notions about DS. My SIL is just going through some trouble with her 12 weeks can - she's beentold that very high risk for DS / Edwards and I immediately thought of you and how you would be able to give her the positive side (of DS anyway). ANd as for the aura thing - I can totally get that - you can practically see it jump out of the page from her pictures!

TC, I missed this thread before, but it sounds like you had an incredible experience. I so hope I get to meet the beautiful Lottie one day, and see her rosy cheeks firsthand!

heymissy · 16/11/2004 17:12

I've never seen a picture - the energy jumps from the words on the page!!!...didn't know about ds either - I am new (blush)

Thomcat · 16/11/2004 17:22

How lovely to see this thread back in active conversations, thank you all for your posts.

Welcome to mumsnet heymissy. What's this about a caul then, tell me more if you can?

ah..... born in a caul - where a child is born with waters intact, babies born this way are always thought to have a gift, a sixth sense, a magnetism or great aura, they may be psychic etc. Only about 1 in every 80,000 births happen this way today due to the intervention of modern medicine - a friend of mine recently had such a birth, and the little cherub was still sleeping when he was born, the midwives had to break the waters and wake the sleeping beauty up. Children born this way suffer no birth trauma - since then I've found out there's a lot of significance attached to these kind of births. (smile)
