Took dd (severe CP and visual imapirment) to toddlers reading time at the library and explained to the woman that dd is almost blind, needs to be near the front and could she be shown each picture rather than that quick whoosh past.
But no, apparently it would be unfair on the other kids. Doesn't matter if its unfair on dd of course.
sigh

How stupid! they must have an equal ops policy, and this muct be breaking it

Marina, just seen your question and the answer is I'm not sure! There is a specialist school for children with autism and AS in the next town to us 30 miles away, but I'm not sure why we have the collection. Will find out!

Still really, really annoyed about this needmorecoffee

I think I'll just slink down, type in the thread address then leg it.
Will deffo be going down. Glad I'm not seen as unreasoanble for wanting equal access for dd. Have felt a bit knocked for six by mean comments from family that making a fuss is 'being a victim' or 'attention-seeking'
But you're all right, they should cater properly for all children.

Oooh right!! If you emailed me her name I could tell you if I've come across her - I have a friend with a ds with aspergers so I'm pretty sure she'll know her even if I don't (if you follow that) (ps email is going funny, can read but not reply!)

needmorecoffee - did I read that right - your family are unsupportive too?? Grrr! Please complain - it's totally unacceptable! Imagine if they had said "we will not put in a wheelchair ramp in order to access the library as it wouldn't be fair on those who prefer to use the steps" - just as nonsensical!
