Leaking nappies

Hi all,
I'm a social worker in a children's disabilities team. One of my wonderful young ladies is 10, she has a short gut and frequent diarrhea which leaks during the night. I'm desperately trying to help the family out, but aren't getting far! Puppy pad wrinkle up and the mattress protector doesn't work anymore due to having to be frequently washed! The pediatric team at the hospital are having just as much luck as me!
Any ideas/ signposts welcome.

Have you tried the special needs nappies from Tesco (she would need junior plus). We use these at night as pull ups don’t hold in the volume of urine/poo. We’ve only had occasional leak.

Could they get a zip on mattress protector, something heavy duty that wipes down. I found it so much easier than stripping it off to wash, and Becky they font have to fit in the washing machine they tend yo be heavier duty. Something like this

Because they don't - not sure what Becky has got to do with it.

Kyle sheets, with the wings to tuck round are good for staying put, on a good night can just change the Kyle rather than needing to do the bottom sheet as well. Fleece blankets wash and dry much fater than a duvet.

She might also need some different pads/nappies as well. We found we had to move to a small adult size to get enough height even though he had plenty of space round the waist.

Hi @samcartwright
Company called ID direct do great pull-ups, our son is 10 and we also used to have frequent leaks of both types. No other nappies will cope with full wee and number 2 - worst case scenario.
So now we put a bath towel under the mattress protector just in case.
It’s worth ordering a really good protector as I have found standard ones don’t last that long.
We currently use the id direct comfy junior nappies but have just ordered
A larger size nappy from them called ID slip super XS we are trialing these.
They are very good with delivery normally next day. Also we now try to limit our sons fluid intake a hour before bed. Hope this helps

The local incontinence service should be able to help out - have you tried contacting them? In the meantime I would suggest pull ups from Tena Direct which is what we use. If you contact them they will send samples out so you can make sure you have the correct size.

It really is a case of trialling several different types of nappies.
