DLA waiting times for renewal 2021

Hi
I sent off my son’s DLA renewal form which was received 25th November 2020 and haven’t heard anything yet. Has anyone anyone any idea of waiting times at the moment? It says 8 weeks but it’s obviously been Christmas, also I hoping there won’t be delays due to the new lockdown. Fingers crossed they’re still processing claims!

I phoned them yesterday as normally they send me a letter to say they received it and they hadn't this time.
I sent mine at around the same time as you and my sons has been extended.
Unfortunately I couldn't quite hear if they have extended it untill March the 22nd or March 2022 as the line was awful.
I did make out the form was in a queue to be looked at though.
When does the dla run out?

Hi
My son’s runs out at the end of March. I rang on Tuesday to see if there was going to be any delays due to the lockdown, I was told to expect delays and I might not find out the outcome of the renewal until March. He said they might even have to extend them again. If they do extend them again I hope I don’t have to fill out another renewal though.

Hi I have just applied for DLA for my son who is 4 who has complex sensory needs, mobility problem, he has a awkward walk which cause him to fall and possible ADHD. Going thorough the process of being diagnosed and looking into mobility issues. They received my form on the 31st march 21. Just wondering what the likely outcome will be and waiting times. Thanks

Hi LovingLanz5, sorry to hear of your daughter's daily struggles. It was around 8 weeks to hear back but it got back dated to when I requested the form over the phone and the payment came in fairly quickly. It then took around another 6 weeks for the appeal decision to be made, from what I can remember and the extra amount was backdated as well to when I again requested the form in the first instance, as he should of been on high rate care and not middle rate. He got low mobility as still able to walk as such although he still falls over. However I am grateful of the extra help and stability it will bring, untill it has to be reviewed again in a couple of years. I just looked at it like a process and what ever I got was a blessing, which will be backdated to when you got the form. Just remember to include the worse days on the form, although it can be hard to do. It is always best to be as honest as you can and gather lots of evidence. I had 13 pieces of evidence with my initial claim. Good luck, hope it all goes well for you all and your daughter x

Thank you.
Ok so not long really. Glad you appealed as it can be quite daunting goung through it again. Dont have a lot of evidence as the medical secretary is off sick. Only have a lengthy diagnosis letter with all the tests and surgical procedures she has had and all blood tests which are consistent with disease. Also have information on all the drugs and dosage she has to take (11 throughout day and night) the medical equipment we have etc, the training to learn have to prepare meds and inject her safely daily so hopefully thats enough. Its such a long form took me and my friend 3 weeks to fill out. Thank you so much for getting back to me. X
