ADHD-DLA?

Very new to this as we’ve only very recently had DS officials diagnosed.
The SEN at school said Wednesday be eligible for DLA. Is this true?
Just wondering what rate etc other parents get for their children and does the severity of the ADHD affect the rate?
I won’t lie, some extra financial help would come in very useful

My children have autism so not specifically ADHD. I know of children with ADHD who do get DLA and their carers get Carers allowance.

The form is quite daunting, think worst case scenario (as I have said on another thread I always have a little weep after doing it) and be brutally honest.

The rates you get will depend on your child’s needs. It also helps to put a supporting letter from the school, as they seem very helpful, you should have no problems.

Hope it goes OK.

Hi @2old2worry I'm currently going through the same thing just awaiting my decision now I'm hoping it'll be awarded. It's a shame isn't it how do you cope with the challenges ADHD presents Sad my DD is 5.

Please can someone help, I have found out the tribunal decision for an ehcp can take up to 10 weeks, my son is going into post 16 provision in September and has a annual review meeting coming up, problem is the ehcp will not be ready by the 31st March which is when all annual reviews have to be completed, I don't know what to do about this

@2old2worry Hi
Our son is on higher rate care and higher rate mobility of DLA.
I recommend doing loads of research before filling in the forms and submitting them - it will be very beneficial to you to do this to get the best possible outcome. There are loads of websites out there that can assist / provide info on how to put / describe things key words to use etc. Remember always use worst case scenarios / examples. As other posters have described - defo include letter from school and other professionals or people that could support your application. Regards

I have sent off the forms for my son who has suspected adhd, complex sensory needs and mobility problems, as in he has an awkard walk which makes him fall over. This will be looked into with physio. I sent away the forms and they received them on the 1st April. Its just a waiting game now to see what the award will be and also how long it will take. Its all very stressful.
