Hope ot goes ok. It seems a shame that a letter from you and the school is not enough to demonstrate her needs. Hopefully you may find out some useful info though.

well; i am happy because she has agreed to give dd 5 nappies per day. She is reffering me to social services to organise a playscheme place and will recommend that dd gets one ! She was okay really, a little patronising but that is what i expected

She has made me paranoid about ds though. She kept saying he should be talking better than that at three It wasnt helping that he had his dummy in his mouth the whole time and was very quiet for him. Isaid he only turned three on saturday and she said oh thats okay then. but it has left me feeling so paranoid, i have been worrying as it is as i havent clue what is normal. I asked my HV before we moved and she said he was okay, nursery say he is okay too. gawd, i dont know whether to just get himreffered to speech therapy anyway just to be done with it iykwim

glad the dd part went well.... I would say trust your instincts with ds - if others have said it seems okay and you feel happy with that then go with that - if you're worried then perhaps get him checked out - even if it is just to ease your mind..... I worry about no2 as I have no idea what is 'normal' iykwim....and will I know it when I see it ......

Oh dear, what are we like!

I'm the exact opposite way round, now I have dd with her "problems" I look for problems in ds, who is now 5. I think that you are just so tuned in to SN, you read more about SN, you know more families with other children with SN, your whole life revolves around SN!!
ds is at mainstream doing fine, no major problems (yet) but I still look too deeply into his developement (mainly educationally) thing like not looking at me when he is being told off -UI have warning bells going off in my ears!

Glad dd's assessment went well anyway!

phwew! glad dd won't be forced to sit around in pissy knickers .

Re ds - didn't strike me that there is a problem -he can certainly chatter away . I was sat opposite a little girl on the train this morning who looked about 3 and her speech seemed about the same. I bet if it wasn't for dd no-one would be batting an eyelid about ds - I think dingle is right, a lot of it has to do with being in the SN world and therefore looking for things.

thanks HITC, i find that very reassuring

The nurse DID actually suggest i take her out of nappies and send her in to school without any so that the health trust could just provide night time nappies. I said i dont think school would be happy if she turned up soaked in urine. Shje just looked a bit awkward then changed her mind!
