Hi, I take DS2 to physio, and it's a trek to get there on public transport (2 or 3 trains), and it has always gone nearly perfectly till yesterday.

Getting there we were warned of severe delays, but got there in good time. Our return journey was completely different. We got to the station to find we would have to just get a shuttle a little up the line, then get another tube line we don't normally use. So far so good, just thought we would get back a little late. Then the message comes across saying that due to a person under a train, there station was shutting!

We walked out, and then we had to decide what to do...should we get a bus? (By this stage too crowded), or walk to get a taxi? (Not too many around!)

We walked down the road and eventually came to a servo, where a lovely taxi driver offered to drive us for free till he found us another one (I think his shift was ending). None around, so in the end he offered to drive us to where we wanted to go (for free), as he said the grandfather was coming out in him!.

When we got there I offered to pay him, and he said no, I am doing it for the baby, not the money...

He was just so sweet, I was nearly in tears (and am now typing this!).

Aw thats lovely

its the little things like this that make you able to cope with the rest of the crap, isn't it?

Aww that's really lovely!

It's nice to know that there are still some kind souls around.

its so lovely when the good stuff happens. I felt like this last week when an aquaintance offered to act as a 1:1 for ds so he could attend a kids club put on by our local baptist church. There are some really lovely people in the world

Oh how lovely !
i had a fab taxi driver too.
I was taking DS to see Lion King and had got off the train at Charing cross but DS suddenly couldn't cope with the crowds. I hailed a cab who , when i told him where we were going did the " are you having a laugh" routine but suddenly caught sight of DS with hands clamped over ears and apologised and told us to get in.
He refused to be paid, got us as close to theatre as possible without running people over and jumped out to help me with bag and tickets all the way in the door.
Isn't it lovely when that happens

So pleased you had such a nice encounter !
