I hope no one minds me asking this here.

Does anyone have any experiance of KIDS

I am thinking of volunteering at the nearest centre to me, but am unsure of what they actually do. I think possibly all of the centres are different, and deal with different ages etc, and that they are possibly a respite/educational service ? The website doesn't make it very clear unless I am missing something.

Anyway, as I said, I am thinking of volunteering, do you think they would think me nosey and rude if I emailed the nearest centre to me to ask exactly what their centre is involved in providing ?

Ah thanks Fio

I'll bump this again after school to see if they reply, and will draft an email to my nearest centre.

We have had KIDS for 3 years. They give us in-home respite paid for by social services. They aren't volunteers though, they get paid.

We went to the parent and baby group, then my DD2 had a group called Developmental Play. Then she went to the nursery (pre school group) two sessions a week until September.

We were really pleased with the services we received. But I thought they are funded by charity rather than SS?

Thanks for the replies.

I am still going to look into this, but might have to leave it for now as my friends childcare has just fell apart and so I am helping her out for a bit until she gets it sorted.

meant to say- they have local clubs that you can volunteer a few hours a week. Its not all about holidays away- they do local stuff in birmingham.

The KIDS worker in our Children's Centre works with anyone under the age of 25. She's FAB.

Don't know about the volunteering side of things though, sorry.
