Weird q - extra saliva in a child with sen?

My son has dyspraxia and is 7.5. Since feb he keeps getting a horrible rash around his mouth from wetting the skin. It's half habit from wetting with his top lip but I've noticed he definitely seems to have extra saliva lately. He never really drooled as a child. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be related to cutting adult teeth? I'm at the end of my tether with it now. Dermatologist gave creams to clear it but the real solution is to stop him wetting the skin. Would welcome any help!

There is such a thing as oral dyspraxia. You can google to try some mouth exercises

Could be sensory related if he's not feeling it drip down. Could be a sensory thing in that he likes the feeling of rubbing something around his mouth (DD2 does this - I try to channel it into her using a glasses cleaning cloth as it's got a nice smooth texture that seems to hit the spot and can go in the washer)

Could be saliva management and issues with his lip seal as well - or the same habit DD1 has which is driving me bloody insane of trying to blow bubbles with her spit. DD1 has no SEN that we know of - she's just going through a grotty oik phase - DD2 does have dyspraxia - both motor and verbal/oral.

I'd personally be wondering about sensory issues first to be honest. Like I say - DD2 is always tracing out around her mouth with her finger, licked finger, tongue or whatever else she can get her hands on!
