DS is 4 (just!) . Diagnosed GDD and SPD and due to start school in September.

His latest SALT review picked up

^"DS very sweet and interactive
DS played with animals first. He named them and put them in their groups.
DS quickly moved on to the pretend food where he demonstrated some pretend play.
DS quickly changed to skittles. He became very excited with this and very loud and high pitched.
Mum reports listening and attention is a real concern for her. He appears to struggle answering questions.

Speech sound delay. Work on his speech sounds can't happen until his joint attention skills develop."

She has set recommendations of sound bags and the Autism bucket activity.^

He is not yet toilet trained. His social skills are pretty shocking.

At what point should I be considering an EHCP? His older sister is Autistic and had a shocking start to school so I'm conscious of not having a repeat but also worry I'm projecting her experience onto him.

The sooner you apply for an EHCP the better as they take time. Start the ball rolling now.

Yes I agree - apply for an EHC Needs Assessment now. Use the IPSEA Model Letter:

How does it work with a covid induced 6 month void of up to date assessments?

If you ask for an EHCNA and the LA agrees, new assessments should be carried out if you have no recent assessment reports .
