My dc has been suffering from anxiety for sometimes. Recently my dc has been diagnosed with the above. Just wondered if anyone can give me some real life experience in terms of looking for and dealing with school.

Hi, I can only give you my experience of what this means. My dd is dyslexic and is 11 now, but was assessed at 7 years old in year 3. Her assessment was carried out at school over a number of months (once a week a specialist came in to see her). As part of this assessment numerous things are tested.. one of them is processing speed. So when I see something written down for e.g ‘the cat sat on the mat’, I recognise and can read it immediately. My processing speed is fast. My dd is slow at reading and this is because her processing speed is slow. It was also determined that her dyslexia affects her memory. Hope this helps x

For my DS, it means that when hes under sensory pressures like busy classroom, he can't process information very fast. He will look like he can't remember it. He struggles to recall what happened that day but his long term memory is incredible.

My processing speed used to be slow as a dyslexic. More i read the better i get. School should give him time to read an article. thre are some good comprehension programmes around. Dylesxia assocition may help with this. Or to do things in ones own time try Twinkle on the web.
