Hi,

Ok a quick question, I am a "lurker" and have read many of the threads on the board as a way of learning a little more about what life is like with children with special needs.

Anyway I am a nursery nurse and today we had "inclusion training" and we discussed how to "include children with SEN" so I thought I'd ask you - what would you like to see at a local nursery which would make you/your child's learning environment more friendly etc

I am not being rude or faecetious and I would really like to hear your thoughts etc.

Many Thanks

Hi Magsi,

Thanks for your thoughts.

When the children come in they find their name and photo and put it into a flower pot - there's a question like do you have a brother or did you see a bus today. Then in circle time they put their names up too. I like the idea of them taking down their photo at the end of the session.

At this nursery we have a list of who can eat what - only have 1 child in my setting that has any dietary requirements - so easy to remember but at my last nursery children had mats with their requirements on and we also had bright card with their photo, name and dietary requirement on the wall too.

The children all sing a tidy up song when it's tidy up time, but I like the idea of music for different times of the day so that children beging to relate the music to the activity.

I love the "talk to DS board"your school has that sounds cool.

Thanks
