Just that really.

My ds 5 is autistic and I think he’d benefit.

He had a fleece blanket which he loves.

Can anyone recommend a a soft weighted blanket?

Thanks

Please read up on them, they aren't designed for a child to sleep under.

They aren't for warmth, they are for deep pressure, a sensory issue and the weight of the blanket is determined by the weight of the child, which at 5 years old would need changing quite a lot to be effective as he grows.

Look at weighted lap-pads, that might be a better bet for him as it can calm him when seated before going to bed.

Have a word with your child's OT and see what they recommend.

It wasn’t for sleeping. It was for after school/if he’s anxious really. Not sure he’d tolerate a lap pad. Was thinking he could wrap up in it.

OT discharged us so no help there.

Hi

I just bought my daughter a 4lb 'Premium velvet weighted gravity blanket' from eBay. It was £22.99. It is perfect for wrapping right around the shoulders and back, and the velvet side of it is so gorgeous I could sit and stroke it! Hers is blush pink but I'm pretty sure they also did grey.

Sorry, there have been so many enquiries about them lately on the main boards and hardly anyone knows what they are really for.

Googling, I've found that for children, many occupational therapists recommend a blanket that is 10 percent of their body weight plus 1 to 2 additional pounds.

To be honest, at his age, I'd try a cheap one to see if he likes it first, then you can always get a more expensive one if it works well for him.

I got a Spider-Man weighted blanket from John Lewis. Really nice quality and only £45. My Lo loves it
