We are finished with our pathetic ABA program. It drained all our resources and was never right for our boy (despite costing thousands).

After a personal stocktaking, i have decided to pursue sonrise as an approach. We do a lot of sonrise like play in the house anyway, joining, etc and it works so well for us.

Anyone going to sonrise start up in February?

I have watched the wonderful videos on the sonrise website and just wanted to hear from people here if they have seen the miraculous changes in their children like these people have.

There was a TV prog on it about a year ago and we discussed it at length on here. From what they showed, it looks like SonRise takes more commitment and more lifestyle change for the whole family than ABA PLUS more or as much cost as even less chance of funding. I found their website (haven't looked for ages) a bit culty, not the SonRise part necessarily but the Options Institute as a whole.

Have you thought of Growing Minds? www.autism-programs.com. The therapists there come from both Sonrise and ABA backgrounds and advocate a mixture of both approaches, though I have to say the emphasis for us is on ABA. We've found them great - very balanced and sensible - and they're not as expensive as some, mainly because of the favourable dollar/sterling exchange rate! They tailor their approach to the individual child and are very pro biomed too.
