Hi, this is my first post here. I am a Mum and a Grandma and my concern is for my grandson (and my daughter, his Ma, well You never stop worrying do you?)
I also have a daughter just starting A levels!

GS has Cystic Fibrosis. Diagnosed at two weeks. Had op and was in hosp for three months.

Never put anything in his mouth like majority of babies do. Late sitting. Lot of gastric troubles. Lactose intolerant(but ok now)
Did not crawl but walked as normal. When baby had intense interest in looking at books but got obsessivly scared of particular toys. When toddler was very scared of loud noise. Cried when he heard other kids cry.
Quite a few ear infections, several hospitalisations for CF

Always loved having stories. Is now six and has obsessions. The latest one is cement!

Is statemented for 25 hrs special needs a week. Has started to have violent outbusts of swearing and hitting out. Will not have anything to do with reading and writing. Well, can write name if pushed and prompted.

Loves running, climbing, going to pool.
Seems to have wonderful imagination but now I am wondering if is just obsessive memory.
Has been recommended that he go to special school in Sept. Is an only child.
Was wondering about auditory processing disorder.
School say no need to label cos they woudl still be doing the same support anyway but I feel his Ma wudl be happier with a cause.

The violence thing and obsessions thing sounds like my son - diagnosed ADHD and undergoing autism assessment.

Your daughter needs to get CAMHS/ a paediatrician involved - but guessing they are already if he's statemented? What do they think?

Could be a lot of things- also sounds like my eldest (HFA- high functioning autism). School are nto the appropriate agents to decide whether he needs a diagnosis, the best thing to do would be to get a referral from the GP to a paediatrician to discuss these concerns- or he may already have one allocated? A diary might help as well.

Going to check back with her after reading advice and thoughts here. Also going to see a special school on Weds and an expert on SN this week to have her look at the statement, which is up for review soon.
