Hi everyone
I am a mum with a boy of 8 who has a diagnosis of aspergers if you are like me sometimes you need someone to talk to when things get difficult. It helps to have friends who know what you are going through. I would love to hear from anyone who is in a similar situation to myself.

Hi Candygirlx, my ds was dx at 9 years old, he is nearly 13 now. If you ever need someone to talk to, just shout! I also frequent another site for autism/aspergers called www.asdfriendly.org which is really friendly and very informative.

Hiya, I also have an almost 8 year old with JHFA (nigh on AS, Paed doesn't differentiate). there's a support site some of us set up- a private one- if you want to pop in and try out do e-mail me on [email protected], its great for ranting and not being judged

It's bloody hard sometimes, btw. It just is.

A big thankyou for your responses I will definately try out these websites
I would also like to encourage mums who have previously not been in touch with any support structure to get in touch here I would like to think that as a group we could help in anyway we can

Hi Candygirlx, my ds is 7 with a diagnosis of AS and ADD. Things tend to go up and down with him and can be very stressful especially when we get towards the end of a half term period. My DS finds it hard to keep conforming at school the whole time and starts to take it out on me and his dd.

It is really good to chat to others in the same position, you can let off a bit of steam and exchange ideas.

Hi caroline I know how you feel things are tough at school for my DS and he seemed to really struggle in Y3 refusing to do homework really wore me down expected battles every week Does your DS have any 1-1 support at school Mine gets 20 hours Things would be alot worse if not for that the support teacher has even helped him on the playground. Touch wood things have run smoother this year some things have just clicked into place He does his homework now (when he remembers to bring it home) and he willingly gets ready for school in a morning now because i promised him his time was his own in a morning when he was ready for school so he rushes now to play on his ds it took a few weeks but its great now
