i am fairly new to mumsnet but have been "lurking" and reading with interest the sn threads. my problem is my dd3 who is 9. she has asd and attends a school for children with mild to severe learning difficulities. we have a lot of problems with her behaviour both at home and at school and i find we as a family are finding it hard to cope at times. i did see the gp last year who admitted he had little experience of autism and suggested thinking about medication. at the time it was left as that, but having been reading the threads on here have seen lots of families being helped by medication i was wondering if this may help us. although dd3 is not adhd, i do believe she may be mildly hyperactive. can anyone give me any advice what a child would need to be like in order for any medication to be suitable and as dd3 is asd if this would not be the right course to consider. any advice and info would be welcome, hope i havnt rambled on to long.

i will post on here later....sorry you had to bump your own thread....there are a few of us on here with a combi of ASD and ADHD...medication etc....i will post later.
chocl8 is having a tough time with her son's school- but she is a good one to read threads on.

for the time being...whilst you wait for replies... use the 'search current threads' option at the top and type in CONCERTA....RITALIN.....METHYLPHENIDATE....EQUASYM....as this will bring up loads of threads that will hopefully help.

Hello, dizzyone. I don't have any advice about medication but just wanted to say welcome to mumsnet.

Chocol8 · 22/10/2004 18:02

Er, thanks for the vote of confidence MrsF - hey, I've never been "recommended" before, thanks!

You said it all - good advice as usual! Thanks too cos I didn't know you could search current threads - doh! Welcome to Mumsnet Dizzyone (love the name!) x

meant to say type one of those words in at a time.....
then on ther section that says:Look in
you get the choice of:Subject lines or Text of message
and you can search for all of a particular mumsnetters threads by typing their user name into the box :where author nickname matches
(you can either leave the 'search for' box blank when you do this so you get ALL their threads.....or if you are interested in their posts on a particular subject type a search item in too)

glad i cheered you up chos.....hope you are refreshed ready for the SENCo expo tomorrow.....if i wasn't in WILTSHIRE i'd be there with you!
