Vouchers for night time nappies?

I have an 8yo DS who has classic ASD and so is very delayed. He attends mainstream school with a full time 1-1 TA, but doesn't access all of the curriculum by any stretch. He gets middle rate DLA.

He was toilet trained at 4yo for the day, but is still wet at night. he is very slim, so I've always bought him pampers pull-ups (he wears a size 6 now).

It has just randomly occurred to me that he might be eligible for some kind of voucher for subsidised nappies. Does such a thing exist please, and does anyone have any experience of it? Or should this be a cost paid for by his DLA?

If I were you, I’d ask the GP for a referral to the (In)Continence service. They can assess and suggest strategies - and you can get a supply of pull ups or whatever incontinence products he needs. They might be rationed to 2 a day; but that will be free for him - so a considerable saving!

Thanks very much - I hadn’t thought of that.

Always worth asking and no doubt things might be different in different areas, however here children who only need nappies/pull ups overnight are not able to get them through the NHS, even with other issues than just the bedwetting.

Still worth seeing the continance team, there are medications and other options which might be relevant to try.
