Is this behaviour due to ASD

I have started noticing this behaviour from last two weeks. My son is three yrs old and has been referred for assessment. Recently, he asks for a thing, and when web give him that he refused to take it. He would neither take it not let it go. He keeps his face down and looks upset. For example, last he asked for strawberry continuously, then when I gave him strawberries in a cup, he didn't take it. I thought he changed mind, when I took the cup to kitchen, he started crying again. Same cycle repeated. Other day, he asked for the car that was out of reach, when I gave him he threw it on the floor repeatedly. Any advice on how to handle this behaviour. My elder one never behaved like this. Is this due to the spectrum.

the strawberries may have been in the wrong container...

really hard until they can say what they want.. can you ask him to point to the container or the number he wants or the size...

(we used to have specific bowl with the exact amount of milk and exact consistency for cereal.)

Ask your child if he can show you what he wants as strawberry might mean something different to him.

Also let him choose what bowl etc he wants to use. Especially if you suspect ASD as he may see certain things as his and will get upset if someone else uses them items.

If you suspect ASD you need to speak to you GP and get appointment with Paediatrician for assesment.

Thank you @BlackeyedSusan and @Lesat for the replies. I think that was a phase, now he is not doing such thing.
