Had dd's parents evening last night and dd is doing really well. She has settled great and has learnt LOADS more makaton, she has progressed onto using the velcro strip to ask for certain things with PECS () she has been using the toilet, dancing alot (apparently she gets quite into her dancing (as if I hadnt noticed ) But the best thing is....

she goes in the jacuzzi every day for SALT because it is really bringing on her language and speech fast, infact she said the SALT was quite amazed how well she responds to being in the warm water and how it helps her concentration. i feel so happy, all positive things

bad points...DH wants a hot tub in the garden now...eeek!

but on a lighter side! She said it was more a case of ruling things out not 'in'. but it doesnt really stop us worrying about it

I know just how you feel about dancing classes I have always taken ds2 with me to my daughters dance class. He loves to dance and joins in at home. In the summer my friends little boy who is the same age as ds2 started to join in.They asked me if ds2 would like to join in so i explained about his problems there response was great they felt that it would help and are very understanding when he gets manic. The thing I found that helps is that I have started joining in as well prehaps you could stay with her or join in I cant walk on a Sunday these days.Guess what i'm saying is go for it.

Oh what a pain! (sorry I got the wrong hospital). I do see the point about ruling out, but it's such a shame to have it dragging on. Just concentrate on how well she's coming on and think that if it's this hard to diagnose it's not going to be something they know much about anyway, so it will all be pure speculation. (don't tell them I said so)

Thomcat · 13/10/2004 18:23

How absolutley lovley. Is this all done at your local hospital then? Sorry i'm all questions, questions, questions. I just think it's so nice and want to know more!

snmum · 13/10/2004 18:23

I would guess for dancing the younger the children the better really- when dd was 3 or 4 the ballet class used to have two teachers and 3 helpers, so it would have been very easy to accommodate the special needs of any children, whereas now she's 6 it's just two teachers. Give it a go

Thomcat · 13/10/2004 18:26

Ooooooooooo, what school, sounds amazing, where do you live. Why can't i stop asking you questions??!!!!!

snmum · 13/10/2004 18:33

i have CAt you the boring details

Its a special school, i think quite a few special schools have pools and things, not sure.

Your dd's school sounds great, so pleased for you and dd that things are going so well! Agree with your dh that you need a home jacuzzi as well - I saw a programme recently where the whole family was in the hot tub in the garden in the snow!

I think she is having a spurt at the moment!

She peddled a bike for the first time on Sunday and didnt stop, just carried on riding

She keeps asking to use the toilet

And she is saying loads of new words, keeps calling me Fiona then giggling to herself!

Its just great when things start falling into place, not bragging btw (god i am paranoid that it sounds like bragging and she is 5 next month ffs!)

all our little ones seem to be doing so well at the moment, it makes me happy

Aww, snmum, sounds like she is doing brilliantly . It's not bragging at all, it is absolutely justifiable love and pride.

Thomcat · 19/10/2004 09:50

You don't have to be worried about peiple thinking you're bragging here mate, you know that, we're always going to be over the moon when each others kids accomplish stuff and boy is your little girl doing just that, wow! I'm so impressed, what a little star

Dingle · 19/10/2004 10:53

OOh how fab!! Well done & hugs all round. You should be proud of her-and it isn't bragging,it's inspiration for other mums on the SN threads. We all have our shares of ups & downs and it's so great to share them.
How old is she again snmum! Is this her first term at school? She is obviously settled & very happy there!

snmum · 19/10/2004 10:54

she is 4 nearly 5 and she started school 6 weeks ago, obviously it suits her better than being at home with me
