Hello all, we have a 15 month old boy who is well behind on his milestones, especially communication and problem solving which are pretty much zero.

We have seen physical specialists previously (very late rolling over) but private SALTs essentially have told us to wait and see which we understand.

Any tips on how to keep a positive mindset whilst trying to do the best for him?

I was very anxious about it all at the start of the year and feel less so now that I have worked my way through to accepting whomever he will become. That said, we both find it difficult to manage our expectations when we are trying to help him improve and don't see results. Should we push for SALT private appointments? He is on the referral list with NHS but we've been on the list for previous referrals and never hear a thing so basically given up hope on NHS help.

Thanks

I work in a special school, before lockdown my class finished their exams and are off to college in September.
SEN doesn't necessarily mean they can't achieve the same as NT, they may just take "the scenic route" :)
