Hello I'm new to here,
My daughter is 6, she has had speech issues since around 3(first got noticed by professional) she has on going speech & language help since she is at main line school
But she doesn't seem to be achieving anything (Not in a horrible way) she is very behind then the other children in here class which I totally understand because obviously of the speech issues which then has a knock on effect
Just looking for advice because she generally finds it hard to process small things she will have a complete melt down over something because she hasn't listened properly to what I was saying.
I'm completely lost an then with everything going on in the world now having to make decisions whether to send her back on 1st June to school??
She has a one to one teacher now so was thinking with less children there she may concentrate better but then don't want the new rules etc to throw her and upset her xxx

Try using visuals to support her recall.
Its not that she isn't listening properly she is struggling to hold the information long enough. Note taking and visuals will help her massively

I recommend she is assessed for dyslexia ASAP.
Do not delay this assessment. It will cost no more than £300.

Your daughter is having problems assimilating information which is impacting her speech and learning. In addition to doing an educational psychologist assessment for dyslexia start using the letterland books which focus on phonics. The books link alphabet letters to visual characters. For example A is Annie Apple. B is Bouncy Ben and C is Clever Cat. By linking a visual picture to the alphabet it will help her to assimilate the information.
She would benefit from being in a small class and having extra help at home with you going through the letterland program. The letterland website is www.letterland.com/who-is-who. The books are on Amazon. You will see improvement if you use this program. It is used by many EPs and schools across the UK. The speech problem will go when she is able to assimilate information better. The EP assessment will show where the deficit lies. I think it might be phonological processing.
