First day of school - how was it for you ? (and them of course...)

DS2 OK so far - seems to have remembered the 'bye...see you later' routine from nursery (which he finished back in April). In fact when I showed him a photo of the building on Sunday he said 'cool ......seelater' . He's only doing three half days a week and the rest home programme - and am I enjoying those three mornings!!

Anyway, apparently he's been very calm (apart from when they tried to get him to drink from a different cup), has done a bit of talking (unusual for him in a new environment) and was on great form when he came home yesterday - his tutor said she had the best ABA session with him ever. I'm crossing everything as I type - it could still all go pear-shaped of course..

Ds1 was all smiles despite my earlier worries. He has started ms full-time and although he has been going 2 days a week before the holidays I was still really worried. He has a 1:1 all day which is great because he couldn't manage on his own. At home time she said he was playing in the playground with a new lad and they were playing rocket ships . Ds1 has a lot against him not being able to talk, still being in nappies etc., but so far there have been no major upsets........yet!

It's such a relief after the first day, isn't it? Good news that all has gone well.

My ds went back to school today and came home very happy - the teacher rang after school to say that he had been very happy all day. She didn't need to tell me, as I could see it when he got home! He has his best friend back in his class (who is one year younger but is now in Juniors with my ds). His friend also has cp, but can talk, so my ds loves to "chat" with him.

The first sign that my ds did when arriving home was his friend's name. Lovely.

Long may the smiles continue

I've clearly scared the head. Atm ds has one to one without a statement AND when she called to ask me to take him home at 3pm (and that was after he'd been home for lunch) she was very tenatative and polite and kept saying 'you dont' have to come but...'

They keep saying he's had two really good days, but he is being repeatedly removed from the classroom during the day, and today ran out to the main gate (locked) and had to be physically returned.

So not great, really. He's a happy boy though! And overwhelmingly happy to see his sister at lunchtime and after school. Much cuddling and mutual declarations of love.

Still waiting to hear when the ed psych is coming. and I have to appeal the sodding statement decision. [tired emoticon]
