I know that its early to be thinking of Christmas, but Im now on the parent teachers association at my daughters school and our next meeting is about the party. Has anyone got any great ideas, or been to a great childrens party and could impart their knowledge in my direction? The childrens ages will range from baby to 8'ish, the kids all have some sort of motor impairment, some have others disabilities too, their siblings also come to the party. Aparently Santa also pops in! Thanks .........

If you've got any kids with learning disability or autism I would suggest that you need something physical, e.g. trampoline or bouncy castle. They often just don't find "entertainers" etc interesting. If you have face painting make sure there's a mirror for them to see it as otherwise they have no concept of what is being done and it can freak them out. My DS used to love balloons, party pooppers and christmas crackers, antything cause and effect. If you have turn taking games like pass the parcel, don't expect them to "get it".

i dont like face painting, as my dd's are allergic to face paints and they feel left out. they are special natural non-allergic face paints available, more expensive than normal face paints, but means that everyone can join in then.

Parachute games can be quite popular. Some kids prefer to crawl underneath while the parents wave the parachute up and down. Others prefer to do the actual lifting up and down. Best of all is when you put lots of plastic ball-pit balls on to the parachute and they go flying through the air.

If any of the children have sensory difficulties it might be wise to avoid disco lights.

Ds1 was unimpressed with the magician that had been booked. He loved the clown though as it was all very visual and involved lots of falling-over.

Ballooon games tend to be very popular but I suppose you would need to check in advance to see if anyone had latex allergies.

How about karaoke?

Was going to suggest both a indoor bouncy castle or parachute - but others have already suggested these!!!!
We have used bothof these at our sons parties and they have both proven to be the best party options with the kids.

Have fun whatever you choose.
