ADHD - Is home school a good idea?

Hi.
My DD, 13, is diagnosed ADHD and since starting high school I've found that her condition impacts more and more on her life.
CAMHS is inconsistent and doesn't help one bit, the school try (sitting her at the front, giving her a free to leave class pass, etc) but her self esteem and self belief is going down the toilet.
She tells me she just cannot concentrate in class, keeps zoning out, the teachers don't understand her or her condition, her peers tell her to shut up bc she talks ALOT, about anything!
Despite numerous prompting she cannot log her homework so doesn't know what to do when at home.
It's got to the point where I wonder whether home schooling would be better?
I'm no scholar nor do I have a lot of money but she's just not learning at school. Sitting through subjects she hates like science/history/geography causes her to completely disengage then it's extra difficult to switch back on for subjects we feel she needs to be listening in.

Do any of you have experience in this? I'd love to hear. Thanks in advance. Smile

You might get more responses on the Education - Home Ed board.

Before you decide to home school have you talked to the SENCO about her difficulties, to see if there is any more support they can put in place for her?

If they can't do any more, she's not learning and her mental health is suffering, I would consider asking for an EHC Needs assessment. You can apply yourself.

Oh and don't be put off if you get knocked back by the LA. A lot of LAs seem to do this when parents first apply, then back down once they appeal. Hmm
