DD has ASD, is non verbal and attends a complex needs school the DLA renewal forms have arrived Sad
This is the first time I've renewed and unsure what evidence to send, do I just send new reports assuming they know the previous stuff?Treat it as a new claim and send everything relevant including diagnosis letter from 3 years ago? What did you do?

Thanks.

I’d send everything - assume the decision maker knows nothing, except what you tell them this time!

Thanks for replying, I thought that might be the case, will resend everything! Not looking forward to filling in the form again, so much paperwork isn't there?

Fill form out in thorough detail like the first time. Send every bit of evidence in, including ehcp. Get the statement inside the booklet signed by school or anyone professional who knows him. (School did ours)

I did ds renewal last year and he was awarded for 7 years this time which is a big relief. His previous award was 2 years.

Good luck x

Thank you, the award was for 3years last time, it's come around quickly!
Will definitely send the ehcp, it's quite thorough and half a tree by itself. I'm not sure if it's true but I was told they get 20mins to read through everything? 'Luckily' DD has lots of paperwork from her special school including risk management plans and physical intervention/restraint plan. Hopefully they look at it all.

I sent it all in, I doubt they read it all, probably not even a quarter. I sent loads 🙈 but his statement inside the booklet was by the Senco from school and she wrote about him needing constant supervision, that he's a serious risk to himself and others, still puts things in his mouth (he's 6) wears nappies etc & about a bit about his learning difficulties, wasn't nice to read I'll be honest, but it was factual and I was greatful she had been honest rather than dress it down just to be nice and not offend me iyswim.

Anyway good luck I'm sure you will be ok, especially given your dd attends a special school. Hopefully you'll get a long award and not have to do it for a while x

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, it is very hard seeing everything written in black and white and feels terrible to write about your own child so negativelySad

Yes I know what you mean, I often feel terrible how I describe ds but I have to tell the truth x
