Hello dd1 gets dla low mobility middle care.

She is 16 in may and we havent heard anything about the transition to pip. I checked her dla award and it says it doesnt end until 2021 on her 17th birthday.

Can you advise if we will still receive payments after her 16th birthday until they contact us about pip? Or will payments cease on her 16th birthday despite the dates on her award notice
Thanks

The following is based on what I have read in various FB groups.

You should get written to regarding PIP. and will have a deadline by which you'll need to apply. DLA will continue until the PIP decision is made.

Around the 16th birthday, you'll get a DLA payment up to the 16th birthday, invariably less than your normal 4wkly amount. Don't panic thinking that this means DLA is stopping. Apparently they "re-start" it on the 16th birthday, and you'll then get a full payment 4 weeks after the 16th birthday.

As this time is approaching, get all the written evidence that you can regarding her conditions, ready to support the PIP application. Start having a read up on the various criteria and working out how you can evidence capability / support needs. Forewarned is forearmed.

Seconded!!
Look at the CAB website for the PIP descriptors as well as Benefits and Work guides (you have to subscribe for a year to get them) and search for previous threads on PIP on MN.
At the face to face assessment, if she can't do something, she needs to say NO, but ... then qualify her statement
YES, but ... is often just recorded as yes.
Some assessors are great, understand the conditions and award points fairly, others don't, who you get seems to be the luck of the draw. Be prepared to go to Tribunal, it is worth it, don't be put off by thinking it's too difficult, it really isn't.
