Our Ds1 has used 'Transport' provided for nearly 3 years now. He is actually stopping from September due to changing to a local ms school here . It was a firm based not too far away from us whose employees were all medically trained (in our case to be able to administer Rectal Diazipam if needed). I remember the first time I had to put him on the transport (usually always an 'ambulance' type vehicle). I was scraping my nails down the window worried sick for the first week, but I can safely say they are absolutely lovely. I had visions of ds1 being just left on the chair and not talked to, but over the time we used the firm he made so many friends and was VERY popular. I think you question others ability to interact with your dc when they are disabled, but I soon became to realise that the people who chose to do this job really liked talking and interracting with the kids, actually, from what I saw (and I did travel in with ds1 on quite a few occastions on the transport aswell) all ages. Most of the time he travelled on his own which was good because he got all of the attention . There were a number of occasions at ds's sn school where I was able to watch 'loading up to go home' time and I saw some lovely people who generally were making every effort to make their passengers comfortable.

I shouldn't worry about it, you and your dd will soon get used to the situation

DD2 (age 3) spends an hour each way going to school. The first time I cycled after her (its 7 miles) and actually beat them to the school (bicycles faster than cars).
To be honest I hate it and am planning mainstream for her much to the LEA's horror. The local school is 5 mins walk and much better as DD hates travelling inside any vehicle.
DD is non-verabl with severe CP.
