I'm desperately trying to be proactive in looking at treatment options for my who is 19 months old and had an assessment for ASD and SPD ( unofficial diagnosis ) by OT, HV and SLT. Can't afford to fork out the £2000 on a private assessment right now and have been told an NHS diagnosis could take 16-18 months . I'm keen on early intervention to help his development as he has regressed and is working at around an age of an 8 month old baby and now non verbal again. ( He was saying words 2 months ago) his other symptoms are also worsening such as his motor skills , eating very little and not sleeping much, and constantly sensory seeking and stimming, meltdowns , no eye contact at all or engaging with adults or children :( always in his own little world.

I've been told tailored ABA and Pivotal Response Treatment helps with communication and other areas of development but wondered if any one had any experience with either ?

Hi, I dont have experience with those. We did SPL, OT, sensory therapy, music therapy and retained reflexes therapy. Now I have signed him for vision therapy assessment... oh joy :D if i could suggest i would recommend for a little baby like that is sensory therapy and retained reflexes. Try tackle one thing at the time. He is not sleeping and eating as have sensory system disintegrated. Get an advice on that. If he will eat and sleep better his mood will improve and ABA is more likely to give you effects. That is my advice from what i have learnt on my boy...

Where do u live? You can get sn assessment in a london clinic between £300-£500. I know because I too was desperately looking for 1 for my son. He is 18 months and I have spent so much money on Psychotherapists and SALT. His Developmental Paediatrician will see him again in 3 months and will decide if he needs ASD assessment. I know they are struggling with him at Nursery and Im struggling even more at home.
