Which school?

Ds has just turned 4yo. He has a a speech and motor delay but of about 2 years and he is slightly behind in social skills
However, his problem solving and memory skills are well above expected targets for his age group.
He doesn't have any sort of diagnosis at the moment but I strongly suspect he has dyspraxia and possibly asd.

I had a meeting at his nursery today to discuss his options for starting school.

We had previously discussed keeping him back a year but he's made a lot of progress recently and are happy for him to start school in August.

However, they raised the option of putting in a placing request for one of the other local schools, which has smaller specialist classes, instead of our catchment school and I really don't know which is best.

Both schools are close by and there will be children from his nursery class going to both schools

Our catchment school is very new and has brilliant facilities. It has a whole building dedicated to sen.
There are no specialist classes so while he while get time out of class for extra help he will spend most of his time in a mainstream.
The thing that really worries me about this school is the class sizes. There are around 60 to a class. I worry that if he does have issues settling or if he falls behind in he may be overlooked.

The other school is much smaller and doesn't have the same facilities as our catchment school.
However, it has both specialist and mainstream classes and even the mainstream classes have only 20-30 pupils.

I don't really know how to articulate my worries about this school.

What if he'd thrive at a mainstream school?
Will he miss out on opportunities that he'd get at the mainstream school?

Do you mind me asking where you live, that has 60 children in a class ?

60 children in a class? Far too many. I wouldn't want that for any child let alone one with additional needs.
