Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

I'm so pleased how well ds is doing atm, but I'm crazily superstitious that as soon as I "say" it out loud things will go wrong again

But that's stupid, right?

So can I say? Can I?

Yes!
V pleased to hear it. Did I tell you he's a spectacularly gorgeous boy? He is.

emkana · 18/08/2007 23:27

He's pointing - v. pleased about that. He's starting to really get the hang of commando crawling - but when he wants to be quick he still snowploughs, as you can see in my profile! He's more and more pushing up on his hands now, when on his front... so many things are happening with him physically, and that's so exciting!

Still not saying anything recognizable, but never mind!

Oh and his chest has been good for a month now, which is fantastic....

(fingers very tightly crossed that I haven't jinxed it now!!!!!!!!!!!1)

How old is he now?

aloha · 18/08/2007 23:28

He looks really clever! He has a very piercing and intelligent look about him.

emkana · 18/08/2007 23:29

He has a type of dwarfism, his arms and legs are slightly short/not in proportion, and he's gradually falling behind with his growth.

We don't know what will happen with him in the long term, because there's no clear diagnosis.

No it's not immediately obvious, and we'll have to see how things develop. A lot of patience is required, as we have basically been waiting for a proper diagnosis since the 20 week scan!

Yes, various. Some things have been ruled out. We're seeing a geneticist who really specializes in dwarfism on the 30th of November.

I'm not holding my breath, it might happend that they can't give a diagnosis either.

Some types of dwarfism are so rare that you can never put a name to them.

And so clever too - great news that things are going so well
