Do the free nappy services provide pull-ups or anything similar?

We are in the throws of toilet training (though not very successfully due to the nice big fat poo he left in his bedroom this morning) Ds1. He has hemiplegia and can only use his one arm and hand. I am due to phone for some more nappies and was wondering if any of you have received pull-ups before I speak to them. He cannot get a nappy off by himself.

yes, we've always had pull-ups without any problems - they're Libero Up & Go.

Fio, have you tryed to contest this before? Just wondering if the fact that Ds1 can only use one hand to pull them up or down might have any 'weight' in their decision.

O.k. so have just phoned up the nappy service and they don't do pull-ups at all!! Surely because Ds1 cannot use both hands he would fall into special circumstances. Why is it free nappies cannot be more flexible, afterall, there are plenty of able-boddied sn children who need to toilet train, then they wouldn't have to provide endless nappies would they. Just phoned the Health Visitor to moan, but no-one around to talk to. AHHHHHH!!!!

Try contacting the Eneurisis nurse at your local hospital (if they have one!). It might be one of the Paediatric community nurses who also covers continence (or should that be incontinence?). Mine have been very helpful and we now get bed pads (like those Pampers sheet things) instead of nappies/pull-ups.

1 pull up a day? Bloody hell..

Have just got DS's new M.O.V.E. programme through the post including all the grand plans for toilet training. Apparently you can leave it too late.. and they'll never learn! I have been stalling waiting for our move (sigh) when DS will have his own shiny new bathroom facilities. I suppose we'd better crack on with it regardless..

1 pull up a day. [shakes head]

I KNOW DS has control.. he holds his wee for ages and then goes all at once. On holiday he thought the shower/bath thingy (with a little bench to sit on if you wanted to fill it and have a bath) was a toilet and kept weeing on it! (Into his bath sadly... but I was still impressed!) It's the hole he is scared of. Even with a toddler sit. Sit him on it and he just freaks.

As for poo.. he poos on demand in order to smear!

I just don't know how to harness this control!

They prob would provide washable protective sheets but I don't want those, I want FREE disposables! I have already spent a fortune on washable..... I now mix and match.
