HI,

My ds is almost 2. He has low tone and has only just learnt to sit within the past two months. Weve just got a run-of-the-mill Maclaren buggy for taking him out in but he doesnt seem to sit very well in it and his posture looks bad. I asked my Ot and got a useless response and didnt have the energy to push any further at the time.

I know we dont need a spceial buggy just yet but wondered if I should buy a more sturdy well -supported pushcair for the next year or two.

I just wondered if any of you lo's with low tone benefitted from a more sturdy pushchair and if so which one did you go for. I dont might paying for one as he loves being out so much that it would be worth the money if it was going to support him that bit more.

Thanks

You could try ringing wheelchair services and asking for advice. If you know what sort of buggy to look for your OT should be able to set up an assessment. You can apply to charities for the money if its too expensive. Our local radio station paid for our son a special needs trike costing over £800. They were quite quick with their decision as well. Your OT should be providing you with advice - it's her job! If you are not happy with her response then ask to see her superior.
Good luck
