Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Just realised the LEA bastards haven't replied to request for statement within six (or seven) weeks. What now?

Says it all really. Requested statement in June, no reply. Not sure what to do, apart from burn teh education office down and take out a contract on the director of education. I am quite annoyed, as you may have gathered...!

Have you got an EP? IF so ring her/him and ask what is happening.

And tell them to get their arse into gear at the same time!!

No, just a paed who did the original dx. Have written a letter saying, please reply immediately and plan to phone. Why is it so bloody difficult, eh?

When you made the initial request did you get a letter saying they had recieved your request and giving you a named contact at the assessment team. This is standard practice in my LEA?

Did you send your request in recorded delivery?

aloha · 07/08/2007 23:08

No, I didn't send it recorded delivery. Dammit. Nobody suggested it but now you have I can see it is the only sensible thing to do. Oh bugger
No letter in return either.
I bet they say they never got it. Bastards! My LEA is Southwark.

Put a call in to the assessment team in the morning asking if your child "Is Known" to the service - worded like that your question should be able to be answered without a "we will get back to you" response as you are not asking for specific detail.

good luck
