I am frequently the SN section rather ..... erm frequently these days CJ, as DS has very delayed expressive and receptive speech, joys of joys. Not due to see a paed or NHS SALT till at least Jan/Feb (referred in March FFS). Not quite sure whether he'll end up with a speech disorder or HFA diagnosis (speech is the huge problem atm, which of course impacts on social stuff). On the upside, we are getting somewhere with toilet training.

i'm always so scared online that i will offend people...so using speech marks for me anyway kind of helps...sometimes its cos i'm not sure if what i'm saying is right...a lack of confidence thing!

My english teacher would have a headfit with me and my grammar!

i also overuse exclamation marks! (why use 1 when you can use 3!!!)

Good news about the toilet training, TC. Ds2 is almost there with his but it's taken a long time to get this far. I was dancing around the room like a mad woman the day ds2 finally produced something.

CT - yes, I was so unbelievably happy when DS weed on the toilet the 2nd time, so the first wasn't just a random fluke. Amazing the stuff that you can't just take for granted isn't it...

TC - That's so true. It's so often the little things that people wouldn't really think about that can be the cause of huge celebrations in our house.

TC- i ended up toilet training ds3 in the bath- as he would wee stood up in there- but not at the toilet . it became a game- we got there...and thankfully those days are long gone...but ds1 (13) still wees everywhere but the loo!!! Good job they have urinals at school!

DS would wee in the bath for a few months before he would wee in the toilet!

Poor dh was greeted on his return from work by me shrieking "'s done a poo in the toilet! He's done a poo! Yeeeeeessssss!" I can only imagine what the neighbours thought.

he's 8 now and still does it (sat down) and it is kind of funny as he gets this 'daft' look on his face in the process!!!!

LOL about the stuff you can't just take for granted. DS tried a piece of lettuce today!

lettuce /faint. I'm just waiting for S to eat a chicken nugget or beefburger (he's fine with quorn burgers and sausages, bizarrely)

I was ecstatic when ds2 sniffed a pea. It didn't get anywhere near his mouth but it was the closest he'd ever got to a vegetable.

S is now adept at pretending to eat something - shoves it in open mouth, then takes it out again without any biting going on

DS3 will carry a smiley face around with him for a while, but not put it in his mouth. Cardboard, on the other hand, now there's a tasty and nutritious snack...
