Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Dyspraxia mask possible Autism?

Hi there,

My DD 8 has recently been diagnosed with the above. We knew from an early-ish age something was different and through the school/GP referring to OT's and EP/Paed the above has been discovered. She's getting the support she needs, which is great. Autism has been mentioned before (not in an official capacity, but by a friend of my DM's who is an EP herself), but because she is fine with eye contact and isn't a particularly ordered person (think tasmanian devil/whirlwind) we dismissed it out of hand. However, there are certain traits which she's always had that I assumed were part of the dyspraxia, but I'm beginning to wonder if it is autism... I'm only understanding now that autism presents differently in girls. Only wanting to play with much younger or older girls (finding it v difficult to fit in with her peers) - being mothered or bossing little ones about, finds change incredibly difficult (seems to be fine at school, but unleashes holy hell at home), flaps when excited, hates loud noises, overstimulated by chaos (loves it, but not good for her). Am I being paranoid here and trying to make things fit?

@EgonSpengler - I am late to answer, but:
I have two DC one with ASD/ADHD and on with ADHD (inattentive) and dyscalculia.
The three conditions are comorbids of ADHD and DD was diagnosed after conventional dyscalculia therapy failed. She needed a different ADHD centered approach to help her deal with the unavoidable maths. She had ergo, too, because she had difficulties with integrating both sides of her body.

Hi. My DD is nearly 8 and has dyspraxia and I suspect dyslexia and dyscalcula (On the waiting list to be assessed). She was formally assessed for autism and they said she doesn't have it but all the things you say about your DD are the same as mine. She is also on the waiting list for am ADHD diagnosis.

This summer has been hard. We are on week 4 of the summer holidays and she has been extremely demanding. The jumping and chaotic behaviour seems to be getting worse.

I have a 5-year-old son with autism who cannot speak and we go to speech therapy to overcome it. Therapy fees are a bit expensive for us and we are looking for alternatives. We have found an app designed for children with autism called Otsimo | Speech Therapy SLP and they have an app about speech. We started using it and it was really useful. I would like to share the app's site with you app.otsimo.org/speech, hopefully it will be useful for you.
