Did a shift yesterday at a childrens respite home, made a nice change from working with adults. We took 4 of the kids out to a soft play center first then returned for dinner and spent evening out on play equipment in the garden and in the on site soft play. Usually most of the adults I work with want to sit in front of the TV all day and its a real job to encourage them to do activites. I dont think I had more fun on a shift before, at one point there was me and 3 kids in the on site ball pool and we were throwing balls at each over for half an hour!

Also the time went really fast as two of the little girls was quite mischevious and I was on my toes the whole time with them to keep them out of trouble. One of them was a escape artist and kept getting out of her seat belt on the mini bus and then trying to escape from her major buggy!

I also have 14 shifts booked for August already doing respite care in the kids own homes and taking them out on trips.

I hope to go back to the respite home again but my agency is not the homes primary one so might be a while. The senior gave me the details of the other agency though as she was quite impressed with how I interacted with the children and she thought that I have been working with kids for a long time and it was only my second shift.
